ANNE ABRAHAM
Chief Executive Officer, LeadWomen

 

Anne is the CEO of LeadWomen, a leadership development and consulting company, focused on developing and advancing women leaders in Asia.

 

With over 25 years of corporate experience in leadership positions across multi-functional units, she started as a technical trainer, and over the years has trained and coached her management & leadership teams. She has mentored many executives in the course of her career and continues this in her current capacity.

 

She is currently the lead facilitator for the softskills modules that are delivered on the Malaysian Women Directors Programme, a government initiative to increase women representation on boards of Malaysian PLCs. Anne has facilitated more than 200 workshops and trained over 700 senior women leaders for the past 2.5 years.

 

Prior to LeadWomen, she was the CEO of SAP and Cisco Malaysia. She was successful at building high-performance executive teams and leading technology and service organizations with P&L responsibility of US$100+ million.

 

A strong advocate and supporter for women leadership development, she is a frequent guest speaker and moderator in Women conferences and summits.

 

Anne serves on the Boards of Media Prima Berhad and Metrod as an Independent Non-Executive Director.  She is also a member of Small Medium Enterprise (SME) Women Entrepreneurs Panel and co-founder of the Malaysian Chapter of the 30% Club.

PUN TIAN POUW (more known as "TP")
Principal, Korn Ferry

 

 

In his 27 years of working experiences, TP held leadership roles in Korn Ferry, Andersen Consulting, Hong Leong Group and Hewitt Associates. His work spans across board and executive search, leadership advisory, talent assessment and development, and human capital management. TP has spent more than 9 years living and working on regional consulting projects in 8 countries. 

 

TP ‘s contribution also includes:

DEVANESAN EVANSON
Trainer/Facilitator

 

Devanesan is a qualified accountant (FCCA) who is also a Chartered Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He also holds a law degree (LLB Hons) from the University of London. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (FIIA) where he currently serves as a Governor of the Board.

 

He is also the past- President of the ACCA Advisory Committee, the past-President of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia and a past-Council Member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants.

 

Devanesan retired from Bursa Malaysia in 2010 after serving Bursa Malaysia for eighteen years. He started his career at Bursa Malaysia as Head of Internal Audit and Risk Management. He was also, at one time, the Chief Regulatory Officer and later, the Chief Market Operations Officer of Bursa Malaysia.

 

Subsequent to his retirement from Bursa Malaysia in 2010, he spent 1.5 years at Ernst & Young as a Director at their Advisory Services.

 

Currently, Devanesan is a trainer/facilitator in the areas of corporate governance, risks, controls, Listing Requirements, boardroom performance, ethics and other governance and capital market subjects.

 

He is also the trainer for one of the modules of the MAP (Mandatory Accreditation Programme), the 1.5 day training that every director of a Listed Company must attend. He is also a regular trainer for the SIDC (Securities Industry Development Corporation), the training arm of the Securities Commission, especially for the SIDC’s CMDP (Capital Market Development Programme) which every director of a capital market intermediary must attend.

 

Devanesan started his career in 1979 at the public accounting firm, Hanafiah Raslan & Mohamad, where he was an external auditor for six years. He has both external and internal audit experience.

LEE MIN ON
Consultant,  Speaker and Board Director

 

Lee Min On is a retired Partner of KPMG Malaysia after serving 36 years (20 years in Audit & 16 years in Advisory) with the Firm. He headed  the Firm’s Risk Consulting division and Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance Services unit

 

He speaks regularly at public seminars and in- house training on Sustainability, Corporate Governance, Enterprise Risk Management (including Fraud Risk Management), Internal Controls & Internal Audit – how to embed the practical applications in organizations

 

He is an Audit Committee Member of Institute of Internal Auditors, Malaysia, Chartered Accountant of Malaysia Institute of Accountant, Certified Public Accountant of Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  

 

A Director of Coalition for Business Integrity Bhd, a not-for-profit organization that advocates, and trains boardroom players and Management, on how to embrace & embed good governance & integrity in the market place, Min On is currently serving 4 Malaysian public-listed boards as independent non-executive board director.

 

SAMANTHA TAI YIT CHAN
Managing Director, Boardroom Corporate Services 

 

Ms Samantha Tai is a Fellow Member of the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) and has over 20 years of experience in corporate secretarial work. Samantha has provided extensive in-house training for directors of public listed companies (“PLCs”) and is a regular speaker for seminars organised by MAICSA, Companies Commission of Malaysia, Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance, Federation of Public Listed Companies, Malaysian Institute of Accountants, Malaysian Investor Relations Association (MIRA), Securities Industry Development Corporation, Bursa Malaysia and other professional bodies/organisations.

 

She has extensive experience in corporate secretarial requirements and provides advisory services including due diligence reviews for corporate restructuring and related services such as IPOs, governance related advisory including Board assessment to clients of PLCs, liquidation and preparation of circulars for submission to Bursa Malaysia. BOEY TAK KONG

He is the Managing Director of Terus Mesra Sdn Bhd, a governance and leadership development training company and an approved professional trainer since 2007 with Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad(“HRDF”). He has over 23 years of broad senior management experience in internal audit, financial management, general management, corporate affairs and regional business development with 5 major listed groups with listings in Malaysia, United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

 

His industry knowledge covers financial services, industrial equipment assembly and distribution, general insurance, textile manufacturing, property development, infrastructure project management and integrated timber processing and marketing business.

DATO' ABDUL AZIZ
Chief Executive Officer, Minda

 

Dato’ Abdul Aziz was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian Directors Academy (MINDA) from 1 October 2009 until 3 October 2016. Prior to his appointment as MINDA’s first CEO, Dato’ Aziz was the Chief Human Capital Officer at Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), a position he occupied for five years before his retirement in September 2009.

 

He has also served in various senior positions across a number of industries including banking, oil & gas and aviation. Prior to his stint in TM, Dato’ Aziz was the Executive VP, HR Division of RHB Bank Berhad from 2001 to 2004. Before that, Dato’ Aziz spent 20 years in Shell Malaysia in various management positions in Internal & Computing Audit, Marketing Economics, Sales, Supply & Planning and HR.

 

In 1991, he was assigned to an international posting to Shell Group Head Office in London where he held the position of the shareholders’ representative overseeing Shell’s business interests in Hong Kong and China. He was made the General Manager of HR and Transformation for ASEAN countries upon his return.

 

Prior to joining Shell Malaysia, he was a Fleet Planning Coordinator with Malaysian Airlines Systems Berhad (MAS) where he began his career in 1977. Dato’ Aziz holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree from the University of Malaya.

 

SEKAR SHANMUGAM
Managing Director, Profitability UK

 

Sekar Shanmugam started his career at Intel as a Systems Engineer and has spent the majority of his 24 year career working in leading corporations like Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Maxis Berhad in senior leadership roles. 


 

His experience includes, among others, managing business units with full P&L, sales and operational responsibilities, guiding his organisation through the 1997 Asian financial crisis and leading the integration efforts in Malaysia during the merger of HP and Compaq in 2001. At Maxis, he led the Corporate sector business unit and developed new revenue streams through a suite of new enterprise mobility services. 


 

Sekar is currently the Managing Director of ProfitAbility in South East Asia. ProfitAbility, based near Oxford in the UK is a learning consulting company that designs and delivers customised business simulations for some of the world’s leading companies such as Siemens, Nestlé, Roche, Sky and GKN as well as leading B-Schools like the London Business School. 


 

Sekar brings many years of hands-on people management and real life business experiences to the training programmes. He has two books about the early days of the Internet to his name and has published numerous articles on the topic of leadership and management. 


 

Sekar holds a Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Malaya and an MBA from the University of Cambridge. 


 

VIJAYAM NADARAJAH

 

Vijayam Nadarajah comes with 25 years of experience in internal audit, restructuring finance functions, change management, risk management, business process reengineering and corporate governance. She is a guest faculty member at the Malaysian Directors Academy training directors on board and corporate governance and risk management and audit committees. She speaks and moderates sessions for conferences as well.

 

She has written articles on HR Governance for HR Matters magazine (now called the Accelerator) and real life case study on board governance failures in Public Listed Companies. Vijayam is very passionate about strong corporate and internal audit practices and continues to contribute in these fields to the financial services sector and through stakeholder supported organizations such as Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission via training and writing standards on learning and development.

 

Vijayam held many senior and public positions such as President of Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (IIAM), financial controller and others. She is a Fellow member of IIAM, CPA Australia and Chartered Accountant with Malaysian Institute of Accountants. She holds Bachelor in Economics and MBA from Monash University, Australia and LLB, London University.

 

STEPHEN LIN
Asian Regional Managing Partner of Haines Centre for Strategic Management

 

Stephen Lin is Asian Regional Managing Partner of Haines Centre for Strategic Management.  He is a member of the Centre’s Executive Committee and Board of Examiners for its Certification programs, and is also an adjunct instructor of the University of San Diego’s Division of Continuing Education.  He holds a Master in Organizational Leadership, and is co- author of “Enhancing Your Strategic IQ – Winning Strategies from A to Z”.

 

He is one of only a handful strategic management consultants outside of North America certified by the Association for Strategic Planning (ASP) as a Strategic Management Professional (SMP) – the highest level of competency.  He is also Founding Member and Council Member of the Strategic Management Forum, an international organization dedicated to the advancement of strategic management.

 

Stephen works with organizations in Singapore and the region, to improve long term performance by developing their strategic and design thinking, strategic management and innovation capabilities through training, coaching and facilitation. He is the Centre’s master facilitator in Asia for training and consultancy in strategic thinking, strategic planning, strategy implementation, leadership, design thinking and innovation.

 

Stephen has over 28 years of senior management experience in private and public organizations, both as an internal executive as well as an external consultant. As an internal executive, he has led strategic transformation and capability development efforts and been a key member of strategic and scenario planning teams.  As an external strategic planning consultant, he is in demand for in-company training as well as facilitation of strategic planning and implementation efforts.  He also regularly leads public workshops and seminars on key strategic management topics such as strategic thinking & planning, strategy implementation, change management, leadership and innovation, and has conducted these workshops in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines, India, UAE, Kuwait, Fiji, Vietnam, China, Australia and the USA.

DATIN NANCY SY SIM
Human Resources Consultant and Coach

 

Nancy brings with her close to 32 years of commercial experience spent in sectors like real estate/hospitality, management consulting, financial services (insurance and asset management) and belongs to the new league of HR practitioners that is strong in partnering the business.

 

Nancy’s experience spans the region and she has worked regionally both in the emerging and developing markets.

 

Prior to her regional career in human resources, Nancy was a marketer. Her strength in both functions has helped her operate and execute well in the C–suite and also allows her to have a lot of board contact work.

 

Her strength lies in organisation development, particularly in the context of change and has experience of several HR transformation projects and also mergers and acquisitions.

 

HELEN LANGHAMMER
Executive Coach

 

Helen Langhammer brings a wealth of global experience into her role as a training consultant. Her corporate experience of over 20 years covers roles in field sales and training, coaching and consulting.

 

She has trained and consulted for a wide range of GMNCs from industries such as Pharmaceuticals; Hospitality; FMCG; I.T. Oil and Gas; Media and Logistics. Her assignments have covered several countries in Europe, The United States and across several countries in Asia.

 

She has extensive global experience in training and developing teams and this has led to a deep understanding of the cross-cultural diversity dynamics in teams. She is qualified to administer a range of psychometric tools and is highly skilled in applying each one to her clients' business needs

 

Her natural interest in people contributes to a style of facilitation that can be best described as warm, informal but very business focused. Clients acknowledge her special skill in relating to groups and making them comfortable enough to open up and express themselves.

 

Helen has been living in Malaysia for the past 12 years. In her spare time, like many Malaysians, Helen enjoys eating and loves trying new restaurants. She and her husband both love cooking so as a counter balance to those hobbies, she also enjoys keeping fit through yoga, cycling, swimming, walking and for the past 2 years, when most sane people are still sleeping attends a punishing bootcamp session 3 mornings a week.

FARIDAH HAMEED
International speaker, trainer and coach

 

Faridah is an international speaker, trainer and coach specialising in leadership communication for women executives and entrepreneurs. She is an American graduate with over 20 years in the professional communications industry with senior management experience.

 

Since 2014, she has focused on teaching women assertive communication so they can lead with more courage, clarity and confidence.

 

She has spoken at conferences, seminars and workshops to audiences from over 25 countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East on a variety of topics such as leadership, entrepreneurship, branding and marketing. She is a regular expert guest on tv and radio on these topics.

FATIMAH MERICAN
Executive Coach and Board Director

 

Fatimah Merican is an Executive Coach focused on women in leadership. With over 35 years of experience in ExxonMobil in various professional, managerial and leadership roles, juggling career and family, Fatimah is well equipped to coach women aspiring to leadership roles.

 

Fatimah is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad. In this capacity, she is Chair of the Nominating Committee and member of the Audit and Risk Management Committees.

Fatimah retired as Vice President and Director, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Inc. in March 2014. In this capacity, she was responsible for the financial services of the company, as well as having oversight for procurement, building facilities and a 700-strong IT support centre.

 

For most of her career, Fatimah was in IT, working in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Fatimah is an advocate for inclusion and diversity, developing and running a program for ExxonMobil IT in support of culturally diversified and dispersed teams.

 

JANE HORAN
Author, International Speaker and Diversity Expert

 

Jane is an expert in cross cultural leadership and career transitions. An internationally recognized speaker and author of “I Wish I’d Known That Earlier in My Career: The Power of Positive Workplace Politics”, a business book used by corporate universities and career coaches globally, she is also the author of How Asian Women Lead: Lessons for Global Corporations, based on her doctoral research, using storytelling to show new perspectives on the future of leadership and careers. Her next book, Career Your Way, will be published, 2016.

 

Jane has written articles on women leaders, office politics and career transitions for Bloomberg Business Week, Human Resource Review, Quartz, The Economist Intelligence Unit, South China Morning Post, Straits Times and other publications.

 

With over 20 years of work experience with companies such as Kraft, Disney and GE, Jane uses her work knowledge to help organisations build inclusive and engaged workplaces. Her consulting work includes Fortune 100 firms such as, BP, Credit Suisse, Covidien, E&Y, McDonalds, Microsoft, Monsanto, Jones Lang LaSalle, Syngenta, SingTel, Toshiba, VMWare and others. Through her advisory work, coaching and workshops, by recognizing what matters most to succeed, Jane provides both sound advice and practical tools to help organisations retain and engage talent. She is a Senior Fellow with the Conference Board, has lectured in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, Chinese University of Hong Kong and Singapore Management University. Jane has lived, worked and studied in the US, China and Hong Kong, and holds an Educational Doctorate from Bristol University. She now lives in Singapore.

KHOO SIM CHOO, PCC (ICF)

Khoo Sim Choo is passionate about empowering change and innovation as a Corporate Leader. She led the strategic transformation of airlines and banking clients as she transitioned and coached the staff to embrace a growth mindset.

 

As a top performing corporate leader, across 30 years in Fortune 500 organizations such as IBM, Texas Instruments, British American Tobacco and Unisys, she is much sought for her professional drive, commitment and big picture perspective. She has achieved significant Excellence Awards in her proactive leadership whilst building bonds as energized teams.

 

Currently, she is a certified Master Performance Coach (2012), credentialed ICF Associate Certified Coach (US), Master Certified Coach and Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coach (US) (2015). DR MARCELLA M. LUCAS
Strategy Consultant and Facilitator

 

Dr. Marcella Lucas is a Strategy consultant, specializing in high impact and low-cost formulation and execution strategy in cross-cultural settings.

 

During her tenure with the Malaysia Blue Ocean Strategy Institute (MBOSI), Dr. Marcella played a leadership role in the development of national-level strategies for the Malaysian government, its top leadership and key private sector players to foster social and economic development. Her role included advisory, consulting and research project management and leading the internal and external teams in impact assessments and strategic audits.

 

A Certified Blue Ocean Strategy practitioner, Dr. Marcella believes the Blue Ocean Strategy model and concepts can be applied by leaders to more fully engage employees, release untapped talent and energy in organizations, and move companies forward rapidly and at low cost.

 

Currently, she is working with LeadWomen to design and facilitate Women In Leadership workshops with the aim of developing blue ocean women leaders.

DR FRANCES PENAFORT, PCC (ICF)
Certified Master Performance Coach

 

An ICF Credentialed coach (PCC), Dr Frances was the first elected President of the ICF Malaysia Chapter in 2011. She has been elected to the ICF Global Ethics Board for 2016-2019. She was awarded the 100 Best Global Coaches by the World HRD Congress, Feb 2017. Her professional certifications include – being a Certified Global Mindset Consultant (Thunderbird, USA), Certified Harrison Assessment Consultant (HATS, USA), Certified Mentor Coach (InviteChange, USA) and Certified D.I.S.C. Profiling Consultant (USA). Academically, she holds a Bachelor in Accounting (U. Malaya), Masters in Accounting (U. Southampton, UK) and also a Ph.D in Accounting (U. Malaya).

AZLIN ARSHAD
Ex-Group CEO ECM Libra Financial

 

As Group Chief Executive Officer,  Azlin reported to the board of directors overseeing the execution of group strategies and operations in fund management, advisory and structured lending, and investments. She was a member of the investment committees of several unit trust funds managed by Libra Invest Berhad (ECMFG’s fund management subsidiary).

DR. ELIZABETH LEE
Senior Executive Director, Sunway University & Sunway Education Group

 

Since her appointment in 1992, the Sunway Education Group has developed from just one institution, Sunway College which had a student population of less than 1,000 to a dynamic group of twelve institutions, catering to more than 25,000 students.

 

Educated and trained in the UK in Multi-Cultural Education, Elizabeth read her M.Phil. in Education at the University of Cambridge. Her Cambridge links see her actively involved in the Oxford & Cambridge Society of Malaysia of which she is a past President.

 

A veteran in the field of private higher education provision, Elizabeth also serves on National Higher Education Research Institute (IPPTN) and the International Academic Advisory Council (IAAC) of Jeffrey Cheah Institute on Southeast Asia. She sits on the Board of Management of the Master Builders Association of Malaysia Education Fund and also the Board of Trustees of MERCY Malaysia. A thought leader in her own right, her recent international invitations to speak include the Harvard Business School, University of Oxford and the University of Edinburgh.

 

In August 2014, she was conferred the Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) by the University of Nottingham for her immense and exceptional contributions to education in Malaysia. Her other international and national awards include the Visionary Women Leadership Award at the 2nd World Women Leadership Congress & Award (WWLCA) in Mumbai (2015), Most Impactful Leadership Contribution Award at Malaysia Most Impactful Awards 2014 by Asia Success Inc and the Outstanding Asian Women Community Contribution Award from Malaysia Women’s Career Building Association in 2011.

Irvin trained and qualified in the United Kingdom as a Chartered Accountant, he returned to join Price Waterhouse Kuala Lumpur in 1993 after 8 years with a London based auditing firm. He is a member of both the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

 

Irvin is currently the Chairman of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants’ Accounting Separation Committee and Deputy President of ICAEW Malaysia City Group. In leading PwC Malaysia’s Telecommunications Industry Group, Irvin also works closely with the Malaysia Multimedia Commission in the area of industry thought leadership. Irvin has over the past 20 years mentored numerous senior individuals at PricewaterhouseCoopers some of whom have since joined the partnership. He continues to mentor a diverse group of individuals within the organisation, a task he thoroughly enjoys. Irvin is a family man with two lovely children. LILY ROZITA MOHD KHAIRI

After 8 years leading Shell Malaysia Legal as its Head of Legal and Managing Counsel for Downstream, Shared Services, Corporate and Company Secretarial, Lily has recently stepped into the role of the Downstream Global Business Compliance Officer, leading the ethics and compliance matters in over 50 countries. She has over 20 years Oil and Gas industry experience with significant knowledge in O & G projects and operations, leadership, change management, corporate governance, board management, talent development, litigation management, policy formulation, crisis and risk management and compliance.

 

Her exposure and experience includes advising the Shell Board and management in a public-listed entity, as a certified in-house trainer for Shell leadership programme, Antitrust and Anti-Bribery & Corruption compliance, regular speaking engagements in the region on Compliance, Governance and decommissioning of offshore installations and as an active Diversity and Inclusion champion within Shell.

 

She has held various external and leadership positions – Deputy President of the Malaysian Corporate Counsel Association (2006-2010), Shell Women Action Network (SWAN) President (2010-2012), an attachment with the Government, Shell Malaysia’s representative to the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce Legal Affairs Committee, a member of the Kolej Tunku Jaafar Board of Trustees and Governors, a Shell nominated director to a few of Shell’s boards and a member of the Shell Malaysia Country Leadership Team.

REGINA ABDUL RAHIM

Legally trained Rejina has been involved in the Malaysian capital markets for the last 19 years with a variety of roles from legal, compliance, product development to marketing. She assisted in the setting up of Nomura Asset Management’s office in Malaysia in December 2006. She became Nomura Asset Management’s first female Managing Director in an overseas office and also its first non-Japanese head of business in an overseas branch, all at the age of 34. The Malaysian operations under her leadership has seen phenomenal growth and is currently one of the largest foreign fund management companies in Malaysia.

 

A passionate believer of paying it forward, she believes mentoring is a good way of investing in the future. She has mentored a diverse range of people from university students to senior managers and looks forward to learning from her mentees as much as they do from her. A mother of two teenage children, she believes parenting is a two-way relationship. She enjoys writing and has written a variety of articles on Islamic finance and hopes to write her family autobiography one day. She is still attempting to get faster with age to improve on her half marathon timing.

CHEW MEI LING

Mei Ling has more than 24 years’ experience in both financial services and information technology and her strengths lie in leading and managing sales and marketing.

 

In her current role, she is responsible for heading and managing sales for Asia Pacific. In her past experience she has experience running and managing companies, to achieve its goals and objectives, providing strategic direction and managing the sales, marketing and operations team.

 

Prior to joining Worldline APAC, Mei Ling was the CEO/Board of Director for Western Union Malaysia. She was selected by Malaysia’s Central Bank (BNM) to setup the MSB National Association and was also the Council Members of the association and elected as the Chairman for the Remittance Industry in Malaysia. Her role was to lead and guide the remittance players in the country to achieve higher standard based on BNM’s expectations on Malaysia. Susan Yuen is the CEO of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi Malaysia Berhad (NBAD).  She also assumed the role of CEO Asia for the NBAD Banking Group and is responsible for the growth of the business for the group in Asia.

Datin Joan Hoi is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director of Zurich Insurance Malaysia Berhad where she is the Chairman of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. She is also a Director of a private investment company with local and overseas property investments.

 

She graduated from Monash University in 1983 and started her career as a banker, staying in the banking industry for 11 years, working with Hong Leong Finance and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

 

She joined Accenture in 1994 specialising in strategic change and the financial services industry. In Accenture, she was the Head of the Finance Service Human Performance Service Line in ASEAN from year 2000 and Lead for Talent and Organization Performance in Kuala Lumpur from 2005. She retired as a Partner of Accenture in 2009 after 15 years.

She brings a distinctive mix of finance, risk and compliance, strategy and business planning, operations and service quality skills in delivering strategic growth ambitions and establishing robust governance framework for financial institutions.

 

Prior to joining HLB, Pik Yee was with Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) for 19 years where she held a number of senior positions within the bank across many of its Asian markets. Her immediate past roles there included: Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Sal Lebanon, Chief Financial Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia and Head of Corporate & Institutional Banking Sales in Hong Kong. She was the first female to take on these roles in SCB. She has also worked in banks in ANZ, HSBC and JP Morgan in Australia. She started her career in KPMG Singapore.

During her tenure with SCB, she was part of the group’s senior Leadership Team. She has participated in mentoring programmes for high potential staff and was involved in CSR to promote gender diversity amongst underprivileged children. Her efforts have been recognized by a Malaysian magazine when she received the Great Women of Our Time “Most Inspiring Woman” award in its inaugural event in 2006. Janet Yap was appointed Country Managing Director in May 2014, making her the first woman to helm this post in Accenture Malaysia. She is also the Accenture Technology Lead and has very recently relinquished her post as Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) Lead which she held for the last four years in Malaysia.

 

Janet has built a 26-year career in Technology that spans across various industries such as Consumer Goods and Services, Telecommunications and Media, Travel and Transportation, Utilities and Oil and Gas.

 

In 1995, Janet relocated to Accenture China (Hong Kong office), where she led the Enterprise Business Solutions group covering Greater China. Six years later, she moved to Singapore to work with clients in Oil and Gas and Utilities.

 

Janet returned to Kuala Lumpur in 2003 to establish the Accenture Technology Solutions group, which has now been reorganized as Accenture T echnology and is the largest workforce in Accenture Malaysia.

She is the Managing Director of IBM Malaysia and holds the distinction of being the first woman to helm the company in its 55 year history in Malaysia.

She is married with two children, who are both undergraduates in Scotland. In between work, she refines her culinary skills, reads voraciously and practices the art of mindful living.

A prize-winning ICAEW Chartered Accountant with 20+ years at middle and senior management level. Mei Mei is a member of the SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad 8-man Executive Committee comprising the Group CEO and top management.

 

SapuraKencana Petroleum is a leading global integrated oil and gas services and solutions provider operating across the entire upstream value chain with significant revenue derived outside Malaysia and activities spanning the globe. 

Reporting to the Group CEO, Mei Mei has been involved in many key functions and played a lead role in transformational activities undertaken by the Group. They include:

  •  group strategy

  •  portfolio planning

  •  M&A activities and investments

  •  corporate finance, accounts and treasury

 investor relations

 

Currently Mei Mei is serving as a Board Member and Treasurer of MakeA-Wish Malaysia, a charitable organisation that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Mei Mei has two teenage daughters and enjoys spending time with her family skiing, sailing and watching movies.

 

 

SITI AISHAH MD LASSIM

Aishah brings more than 22 years of experience and knowledge from her work in financial services, oil & gas, IT and consulting. She has held the role as a C level Executive since 2006 and has successfully led and collaborated with C suite peers to integrate the human capital programs into the overall business strategy. Specializing in Leadership effectiveness, People strategy and Change management, she works with individuals, teams and organizations to increase effectiveness and improved outcomes.

 

She started her career as a Consultant with Accenture working with oil & gas clients – Shell and Petronas Carigali. She then found her passion in Change Management and Talent and transitioned into Human Resources thereon and rose to become the Human Capital leader in Maybank Group and Bursa Malaysia consecutively. Her organizational experience ranges from start-ups, multi-country operations, policy advocacy as well as mergers & acquisition.

 

She holds a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University, USA. She is a mother with three children.

LIM KIT WAN

A chartered accountant by training, Kit is a member of the ICAEW and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). After completing her training with Touche Ross London, she pursued her entrepreneurial dream in business and has had experience in F&B, lifestyle retail, manufacturing, publishing, event management and training.

 

She is an NLP Master Trainer and Hypnotherapy Trainer and in fact Kit is the only female NLP Master Trainer in the world certified by both the American Board of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and NLP University. Driven by her passion to make a difference in the world, Kit has mentored university students through her mentoring initiative, Project Starfish, where she helps them to achieve their goals, work on their personal issues and prepare them for the future.

 

With her extensive experience, Kit continues to pursue her passion to inspire and change the world, one child at a time.

DATIN NANCY SY SIM
Human Resources Consultant and Coach

 

Nancy brings with her close to 32 years of commercial experience spent in sectors like real estate/hospitality, management consulting, financial services (insurance and asset management) and belongs to the new league of HR practitioners that is strong in partnering the business.

 

Nancy’s experience spans the region and she has worked regionally both in the emerging and developing markets.

 

Prior to her regional career in human resources, Nancy was a marketer. Her strength in both functions has helped her operate and execute well in the C–suite and also allows her to have a lot of board contact work.

 

Her strength lies in organisation development, particularly in the context of change and has experience of several HR transformation projects and also mergers and acquisitions.

 

SHAREEN OOI
Group Chief Marketing Officer, Media Prima Berhad

 

Shareen’s career in Media Prima started in 1985 where she was one of the pioneer marketing staff and she quickly rose up the corporate ladder.

 

Some of her key achievements in her earlier years were to spearhead sales for four TV networks (TV3, ntv7, 8TV & TV9). In 2005 she became the Group General Manager under Media Prima TV Networks. In 2012 she was promoted as the Group Chief Marketing Officer for the Group.

 

She holds a Master of Business Administration from Bern University, Switzerland. Her proven track record with Media Prima of 28 years has won her the prestigious Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN) Award conferred by Yang DiPertuan Agung in 2013 for her outstanding achievement to the industry. She also won the Women of Excellence Awards in 2014 for successful Malaysian women under Corporate Top Class Management awards.

 

She is trained by NAM Institute for Empowerment of Women Malaysia (NIEW) for Women Directors on-boarding training programme. The programme was organized by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.

 

HABIBAH ABDUL
Retired Group Partner of Services Group (Assurance) EY

 

 

Currently, she is a board member of two public listed companies, Petronas Gas Berhad, and KLCC Property Holdings Berhad. She is also a board member of non-listed bank, CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad.

 

Habibah has had a career-long interest in developing and mentoring people. In line with this, she attended a coaching course (International Coach Federation, ICF) in September 2011 conducted by Wai K. Leong. She has coached partners, directors and senior managers of Ernst & Young, Malaysia. From September 2014 to June 2015, she was involved in coaching nine new partners of Ernst & Young, Malaysia.

PUN TIAN-POUW

Tian Pouw (TP) has for the past seven years managed searches for independent board positions, C-suite and management positions across various industries in Malaysia and the region. He is humbled to have played different roles, be it as a mentor or a coach, in the career journey of many.

 

Throughout his 27 years of line and consulting experiences, TP has worked with boards and leaders throughout Asia Pacific including India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Mauritius, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. His interest and experiences cuts across board and executive searches, board and C-suite leadership assessment and development, strategic human capital and talent management. Prior to Korn Ferry, TP has assumed leadership roles in Andersen Consulting, Hong Leong Group (Malaysia) and Hewitt Associates.

 

TP is also a faculty member of the Women Directorship Program organized by LeadWomen in collaboration with NIEW and the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. He feels honoured to be a Diversity Advocate nominated by TalentCorp Malaysia to help address the talent needs of our nation, particularly in areas related to diversity and flexible working arrangement.

 

He has been a volunteer with the Befrienders Worldwide for the past eleven years, providing emotional support to those distressed and in despair. He was a board member and took a year off to be the Executive Director for the Befrienders Kuala Lumpur. He is currently a life skills coach for underprivileged children. TP enjoys public speaking and partaking in career counselling and leadership assessment and development programs.
